Personality: Unlike the majority of the females in her nation, she's not as proper and lady like as a female should be, instead she enjoys just having fun and playing in the dirt all day while the sun melts away all her worries and grief. She was always shunned because of this, which makes her a bit of a loner at times, but the amount of people with her doesn't seem to bother her much anymore.

Despite her child like ways of life, Mei honestly is truly soft, but is scared that people will make fun of her if she reveled her true interested. She truthfully finds reading as a fun activity and enjoys to paint when she's alone, which is quite often. Sometimes, when the other girl makes fun of her, she runs away and cries in her room, releasing all her tears then so no can see them later.

Likes:

• Dirt
  Okay, what kind of earth bender doesn't like dirt? NO EARTHBENDER! It's impossible for someone who has the powers to control the ground before them to not like dirt! Well...unless they are one of those stuck up girls who avoid all dirt at all cost just to save their beautiful clothing.
  
  
• Nice sunny days.
  When it seems like everyone in the world hates her, the only thing that can her smile, other than dirt, is the warm sun smiling down upon her. The feeling she gets from it's warm rays of heat is just something truly amazing; especially during a bad day.
  
  
• Pranks
  As you can tell, Mei is a girl who loves to cause trouble, have fun, and just let the worries of the world leave her shoulders, so pranking someone is her perfect idea of fun! The rush you get when you run away from your victims makes Mei the happiest girl in the world, even if the prank kills her.
  

Dislikes:

• Liars
  There is nothing that Mei hates more than liars, especially if they continue to lie despite the fact that the evidence is right in front of them. It's just so disrespectful to Mei and makes her think that person is trying to deserve her or her friends.
  
  
• Show offs
  Being a showoff herself, Mei doesn't like it at all when someone tries to show how amazing their skills are, even if the task is something she's horrible at. To her, they are just challenging her in their own way, not allowing the others to know about their competition.
  
  
• People who hate getting dirty.
  Why can't someone just let their clothing get a little dirty for a good cause is a mystery for her, especially if it's necessary for them to get down into the dirt just to get things done! Sometimes she'll purposely dump dirt over that person just so they couldn't have a reason behind staying on the sidelines.
  

History:
As a child Mei never had any friends, especially girl friends. This was only because she was more into rolling around in the dirt while the girls in her town usually avoid the dirt, despite being earth benders. This angered Mei at times, causing her to run away from home for a week, but she would always return and try to make new friends, only to fail. It was a sad cycle that continued for a while until one day, when Mei was 10, a boy by the name of Naoto came to her village, becoming her first friend.

The two of them quickly became inseparable, going to special events together, studying together, and training together. They both loved jumping in mud puddles after a rain shower, which was probably Mei's favorite activate to do with Naoto. Sadly the happy days full of sunshine and smiles came to an end when a unknown group of benders invaded their village. During the invasion, Naoto and Mei hid in the woods, thinking it'll be best to avoid the town at the moment, but sadly one of the members in the group was station in the woods, so he was able to spot Naoto and Mei easily.

You would think the person would spar two innocent children, but no, the fire bender came out of no where and killed Naoto right in front of her eyes, scarring poor Mei for the rest of her life. It wasn't just a one hit kill too, it was a brutal kill, which made Naoto scream like chimpanzee during his death. Luckily Mei was able to escape the man before she was killed too, but she can never forget the screams she heard that day and the look on her only friend's face before he came face to face with death himself.

"No..." Was the only thing that left her now cold lips as she witnessed the death of her only friend. The empty look in his eyes, the emotionless face, the scream leaving his lips...It all made her just want to run away a cry for the next few years, though she couldn't do that now because the murder was about to kill her next. "Are you ready to die too?!" The fire bender asks Mei with a cold chuckles, staring at her with joyful eyes that made shivers run down her spine. "Please..." Mei mumbles, backing away slowly, unable to escape his clutches. But, as the man sprang forward, the small girl was able to dodge his attack and run the other way, never looking back to make sure it was safe.
