| Located near the city of Omashu in the Earth Kingdom, the Cave of Two Lovers, also known as the Secret Tunnel, is a series of caverns which pass underneath a section of the Kolau Mountain Range. It is considered the birthplace of earthbending and has become a place of legend revered by bards.

The swamp is densely populated by a variety of fauna and flora, the most notable being the catgator. The local population consists of a tribe of waterbenders, who migrated to the swamp from the South Pole centuries prior to the outbreak of the Hundred Year War. The tribe maintains a strong relationship with nature; they navigate the dense undergrowth with skiffs, where they forage for sustenance. At the center of the swamp stands an enormous, ancient banyan-grove tree whose roots spread out over miles. The rest of the swamp grew by extending from the foundations of this tree, over time developing into one large, living, super organism. The Foggy Swamp Tribe bases its philosophy on this phenomenon; they believe that, like the tree, all people of the world, no matter how different, retain the same roots and are branches of the same tree.

Predominantly a fishing port, this small island on the South Sea is a popular destination among traders and travelers. It is well known as the birthplace of Avatar Kyoshi and the residence of the elite Kyoshi Warriors, an all-female fighting outfit. As a result, every village on the island hosts a statue of its revered Avatar, and one of the villages has converted a temple into a shrine dedicated to her. The island is characterized by its seclusion and temperate climate.

It is named after the serpent which guards it, making the pass feared in the Earth Kingdom. Most refugees refuse to use the pass, and instead cross the lake by boat.

It is the largest, driest, and hottest desert on Earth, and due to its extreme climate, the region is almost impossible to successfully cross. The desert is sparsely populated by Sandbender Tribes and beetle-headed merchants.
